This review is regarding the management of Hyundai of Athens.
The first time I went in I was upfront about needing more time before purchasing a car so a salesman said a test drive was not necessary and that he would have my card request put in. Later that day I still hadn't received a processing confirmation email so I called and they said that who I spoke to earlier had likely been fired so at this point I began a long string of emails with dealer customer service and then finally called again to speak to a manager. What a joke.
Avoid this dealership like the plague. The headaches are not worth it.
Hyundai was running a simple promotion. You come in, do a test drive, then get a $40 promotional card. After visiting this dealer twice and making and sending more than half a dozen phone calls and emails I still never got my card even though they kept promising me that it would be processed and they would handle my request.
Don't go there thinking the number on your mailer is the prize you win! Read the fine print. Also don't take the "$25 restaurant gift card" I went online to redeem and you basically have to spend $75 at a few locations to receive $25 off.. was definitely not explained that way! Save your time unless you're searching for a car. The guy that helped me named Ron was a nice guy. Go see him if you're in the market to buy!
The staff were kind and helpful. Took my 2 cars in for routine service and they were completed quickly
I have rated them one star because that is the lowest score you can give. If zero stars were an option, they would have received zero. I recently purchased my second vehicle with Hyundai of Athens, replacing a vehicle totaled in a wreck. The purchase process was quick and simple. Everything that followed was not.
After a full week passes and no movement in my case, I contact the BBB and Hyundai Corporate Customer Care. They assured me that the matter would be handled. I waited another two weeks. After doing so, I contact the dealership again. Another new manager, as well as a separate person brought in to help clean up the mess of the several previous GM's. After literally spending 5+ hour on the phone, two trips to the dealership, and dealing with 3 GM's, the title was placed in my name. I have yet to be given any consideration into the matter of a previous purchase on my vehicle more than three months later.
I would certainly not stop here unless you're going to be purchasing a car right then and there which I highly advise against. Definitely don't count on them living up to any promotion or even servicing your car according to many other reviews. I'm sorry no one may want to buy your cheap automobiles and you have to bribe people to come in but treating your possible customers as badly as you do isn't going to help move more cars; if anything it will assure they all stay right on the lot where they belong. I could not ever imagine doing business with this dealer to make a likely unwise investment in a vehicle due to the fact that something so simple had to be made so incredibly complicated and annoying. Don't run away, drive away as fast as you can, preferably not in a Hyundai.
Update: I finally received my incentive gift but had I not put in the ridiculous amount of effort that I did with my request then I'm doubtful I would have ever gotten it. They did follow through and submit it, however to their credit. The process was just way harder than it should have been and I had to basically beg to get a simple request fulfilled so my advice to be cautious doing business with this dealer still stands. With enough bothering, though they may finally come through for you.
The manager told me to send him my voucher via email but I still never received my virtual card so when I was in the area again right before the promotion ended I came by with a second paper copy of my voucher and he assured me that he would take care of it but didn't. I even apologized some and said I wasn't trying to be a bother even though it probably takes the dealer less than five minutes to submit the voucher so everyone would have won had that simple task been done.
Six years ago, the new Sonnata I bought was the first car, motorcycle or lawnmower that wasn't a Honda. Today, I personally know their 100k mi / 10 year warranty is no joke as they performed a very expensive repair and covered it. I'm happy and very impressed. Thank you Hyundai of Athens.
Now I'll definitely never be back, I wasted my time and theirs, I didn't get my card, and they got a negative review. I'm sorry you may not agree with an offer corporate is running but that's what helps bring people in so instead of irritating potential customers why not just humor them with the hope that they'll return later on instead of making them beg you to honor a simple promotion that leads them to never come back? That makes no sense.
After my purchase in August, I found purchase paperwork in my car from a previous dealership. They had transferred the vehicle from another location to get the exact model with exact options that I wanted. I thought it was suspect when the vehicle arrived "new" with over 400 miles on it. However, they offered gas and car wash vouchers for my trouble (which I have still not received). I contacted the dealership regarding the paperwork, and the manager at the time gave me an unsatisfactory "guess" as to why the paperwork was in the car -- no research, no calls, no explanation as to the reason for it. At the time, I was not overly concerned about the matter, but was at the very least disappointed in the service and care I'd been given.
Mid-October rolls around and my new vehicle registration and licence plate have not arrived. I stop by the tag office to check on it, and the title of the vehicle has not been placed in my name. 50 days later and according to the state, I do not hold ownership of my vehicle. At this point, my temporary registration has expired, and I receive an extension. After a few calls to the dealership, I found they have a new general manager who is very unconcerned with the negligence of his dealership. He gave me a half-hearted promise that he would handle the matter and it would be resolved within the week.
