This dog friendly park has a beautiful trail through the woods along the shore of the Middle Oconee. A beautiful nature walk.
Great place for walking dogs. Wish it was bigger, but we got our exercise so that's okay! River access is fantastic!
Nice park, good for a picnic or a short hike along the trail. No real facilities beyond a couple of tables and some trash cans, so be aware! But if all you want is a place to come and appreciate a lovely view of the Oconee river in a natural setting, this is the place for you.
Great trails and a nice place to soak your feet and get out of the sun. Dog friendly, too!
This is my favorite park in Athens! Such a hidden gem that is underutilized by Athenians. Great semi-moderate hikes (not a running trail!) and access to water. We love letting our dogs play in the water running over the rocks on a hot summer day, letting them off leash to run around in the large open fields, and hiking up behind the river through the back end of the woods.
Note: bring bug spray if you mind insects and beware of ant beds! Also, many visitors use the large open areas to play with their dogs off-leash. We have never had a bad experience with off-leash dogs here, but it is something to know before you go and to be careful with your own pups or small children.
