We live in the upstate of South Carolina and this is the closest store that we can get my ring serviced at through the lifetime jewelry care plan we have. I called in to see what the process would be for getting my ring cleaned and was told that I needed to pay to have it mailed in to the store. After mailing it insured, via FedEx, I received a call from the store manager who was confused about the ring they got. Apparently I was misinformed and needed to mail it to the corporate office in Portland. The manager said they would go ahead and clean my ring (a brushed gold band) and mail it back to me. When I got the ring, the brushed gold had been ground down to a brassy shine and was much thinner than it used to be - it's a very different ring than I sent in. Now I'm working through corporate to get the issue resolved. I need to send in a picture of the original ring, since they don't sell it any more and the contracted jeweler apparently couldn't ascertain that the brushed gold wasn't in fact "wear and tear". My concerns: major miscommunication about sending my ring via mail to the local store, rather than to corporate. Having the store manager go ahead and send it to the local jeweler rather than sending it off to corporate. Having the ring come back drastically different than the ring I sent in, without the manager or the jeweler noticing. FMJ not having a photo of what the ring should look like, especially with my lifetime jewelry care plan, so they know how to clean and replate a simple brushed gold ring.
great
