I know a lot of reviews seem like a rant from someone who had a bad experience and just write one that is way out of proportion for what happened, but this is really not the case. Feel free to go ahead and visit them. But if something goes wrong, and you might not be able to tell at first, you can't say you weren't warned.
I went tho three stores to get quotes on the work on my rings. Two couldn't even do the work on one of them as they "don't do silver" and my wedding set they were bent on up-selling me no matter what. Duncan & Co did the work for 1/3 of the price and quickly. My rings look lovely and they fit. All done in house and no pressure to upgrade.
No clue what happened to the other half of the gold in my rings, but I highly recommend that if you bring your rings here, you do not let them out of your sight. Duncan & Co and Jared's were the only ones to touch my rings (bought my rings from Jared's) and pretty sure it's not Jared's that chopped the gold off half of my three rings.
My experience with Kim and Dale was excellent. They took the time to find the perfect engagement ring for my finance. I felt like they were taking care of a family member with the personal service as well as the price. Skip the big jewelry stores and make this your first stop. I will definitely recommend the Duncan's to all my family and friends.
Initially had a very good experience here, until the ring I had soldered by them broke. They said they could solder more of the rings together and it should hold. Got back a very sloppy job with the solder job visible in waves up near the diamonds.(Think about how as you pour a thick liquid, like cake batter, how you can see the ripples? That's what my ring looked like permanently.)
If you know exactly what you are looking for and want to get a good deal, without all the B.S. and hassle that other diamond retailers give you when you walk in the door, then come here! I shopped at a total of ten different jewelry retailers in Athens and in surrounding areas. Out of all the places that I went, Dale was one of the most helpful. He found exactly what I was looking for, a beautiful diamond, at a very fair price. I think the only other place you could get a (slightly) better deal would be online. The advantage of shopping here is that you can get a beautiful diamond, at a good price, and you get to see what you are buying before you buy it. Highly recommended!
Also noticed the shanks looked liked they had been thinned for some reason? Instead of having the thickness that I took them in with, they had been thinned out. What happened to that gold?? Took it to another jeweler to get it repaired/wanted them separated since it looked so sloppy and no longer trusted this place and got a call that all three shanks (just the shanks, not the whole ring) completely melted after being touched with heat. It was later explained that the bottom half of the rings were no longer gold but were in fact made of only solder, then etched to look like three attached rings instead of one chunk of solder. They could tell based on the flame height/heat applied to the ring and how the "metal" melted.
Wonderful customer service and WONDERFUL prices. Especially on appraisals. They will do the appraisal on the spot or within one business day if the jeweler is busy. I was blown away with this, because every other company told me the appraisal would take at least a week and would be a lot more expensive than Duncan's price. They earned my business for life!
