A highlight of outdoor life in Athens, locals can make the experience different with every trip. Multiple gardens with different themes in a very walkable array highlight this treasure. One can also take a robust hike along the river and see lots of birds, beavers, and other wildlife. Kids enjoy the statuary and the giant globe fountain. Learning opportunities abound in the indoor garden space, with unique spaces including food and medicinal plants, plants with industrial uses, and many species of orchids. This is a fun place to go every weekend with the kids, or to bring out of town visitors. The gift shop focuses on learning items, books with a focus on nature and gardening, and interesting learning toys and the staff are pleasant all around.
They have extensive grounds with miles of trails and lots of interesting plants. They give you a map, but we were not able to figure out where we were based on the map or the signage. Also, the signage that they do have is getting very worn out and needs to be refurbished. The staff is very knowledgeable, and the grounds are very well kept. A great place to spend a few hours or hike the trails. I would give 5 stars if they had refurbished the signs and if I could find my way around.
Awesome place to spend your time, especially around herb and Asian garden. Nice place of jogging or cycling. UGA bus can leave you there, but won't come to pick.
I had the honor of marrying my cousin to his fiancé. We were in the Day Chapel. The chapel had a very cozy, intimate, resort in the woods log cabin feel. Downstairs was a beautiful reception hall with open windows and just a beautiful atmosphere. I loved the fact that this chapel has an elevator as well. I will warn you, because the chapel is situated in the woods, there is a lengthy down slopping pathway to the chapel. Be careful walking down.
Beautiful! Extensive, beautiful walking/running trails that go to the river. Amazing gardens to explore. Love the cafe area so much! Also recently have gone to a wedding there- somehow so classy but also casual, amazing, romantic atmosphere.
